Google analytics tracking code and a b test code issue

    When I put the code onto my index page for analytics tracking and a2b testing, i tried inputting the full url for my domain including the www. However when google pinged this to see if it was working, it said it couldn't find it.

    I had to remove the www. and then when it pinged it again it could find it. Any ideas why?
