There are several free Wordpress plugins that will help you put the Analytics code into your blog. And yes, it works just fine!

Google Analytics works perfectly on Wordpress.

I personally use StatCounter though but i think are both good analytics tools.

Don't worry about the working procedure. Google analytics is well suited in wordpress site and we're already practicing it. So don't be bothered about it.

It works well - I never use the wordpress stats, I always prefer Analytics.

Clicky is another good program you could try if you are interested.

Statcounter.com is another great website that gives you detailed statistics about your blog or website (for free), and it shows you on time data, while Analytics shows you the traffic you had the previous day.

The Google Analytics should be in the footer or header of the page. Most suitably the header.php or footer.php of the page.
