These days it has been said that google analytics works the best for checking the visitors?? but is it true?? it works better then stat counter?? i have seen many site's who are using stat counter?? So ultimately what is better to use??
Somehow I find statcounter is more appropriate to my needs. The old school bar really had an impact for me when I started using it.
I use both of them on most of my sites statcounter is almost real time and with GA you have to wait for 24h to get the stats SC has a better information of each visitor which is good for low traffic sites
I use both too. If you want to look deeper on each visit SC is better (IMHO) and the advantage to have almost real-time stats is very useful if you run fast camaign and you need to fine tune them on the fly.
SC is good for real-time stats ,and showing the number of visitor online with SC is a good impression for your reader .
I don't like Google, that is a fact. But their freebie junk can't be beat. They only create this stuff so little businesses can't compete with them, there is no revenue in it and it makes no sense to divert resources to create stuff like this, so I figure this is just another of their methods to dominate the Internet, which they have done so far. Their ANALytics program is way more detailed than a simple web counter. It tells you just about everything that goes on as far as traffic is concerned. I use it, I must admit. I don't want to "pay" because I am freeloader like everyone else. And it is fairly accurate as well. Web counters just count hits, this will tell you where they came from and if they were from a search engine, direct, or referred and stuff like that.
Personally I would go with Google analytics, which most of the time gives accurate results with regard to traffic than the statcounter (which is not bad again!)
if you're into ppc, getting info at midnight with analytics is a little late. statcounter is better if you spend for traffic. analytics is fine if you're an seo person.
That is one downfall of Google's crud, you have to wait until after midnight for any data. I found some php code that works from your server log, but you do need to know ftp processes and have access to your log and other parts of your root directory. One of them was way more detailed than Google, I just didn't feel like installing it. And I don't think Google factors in whether you use their stuff or not, but they might.
