Hi all We are having a problem with Google analytics not tracking our adwords conversions, the tracking code has been checked and is all installed correctly. I understand that some orders will not be fed through because of cookies but the disparity is just too big. We have turned off a lot of Adwords campaigns so that we can try to get a better idea what is happening. Our brand bid Adwords are feeding into Analytics ok, but the other two adwords campaigins are no tracking anywhere near the level of business we are doing. I know this because the other areas of our website have dropped right off without Adwords campaigns for them and our organic listings for the Adwords campaigns we do have on are not even near page 10 in Google. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going wrong in Analytics? I have thought about trying another stats package to see if the disparity is the same. Anyone make any suggestions on packages we could try? Thanks in advance
If you figure out the reason for the problem let me know. Analytics has never been reliable for me for conversion tracking.
I had a similar problem and found the issue was that my AdWords Ads sent traffic to my http non secure web site but then when users went to checkout they moved to another domain name. Since the tracking code was now on another domain name the code couldn't read the analytics cookie made by the original domain so it couldn't track referral information correctly. The solution was to setup my checkout process to happen at the same domain rather than moving to another domain. This required the purchase of an SSL certificate but was worth the price because I can now track results of my AdWords campaigns. You could also try setting up AdWords Conversion Tracking which is different than Google analytics e commerce tracking. You can have both analytics e commerce and conversion tracking setup at the same time on the same site without problems.
