Shawn, the google analytics code kills me. it makes any page of the forum load in 20-30 seconds .... or NEVER. can you check if it is all OK with it ??? anyway.... i just blocked it from the firewall... any access to www.google-analytics.com is denied... but i'm sure others see this problem too.
hehehhe, firewall didn't block it 100%... i beleive it blocked it sometimes. but i found the solution if you are using Firefox so, in the file userContent.css which should be in the Firefox's APPLICATION DATA (found somewhere in DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS), you should put: SCRIPT:source[HREF*="google-analytics"] IMG also add a "," after IMG if you have other rules after this one. hope this helps you.
i noticed it a while ago on my site, but this was during the beginnings of GA, where it was running off of an atari
I never had an issue with this, but it seems several did. Here's some info I found on threadwatch. Seems google was testing an update to the javascript file. http://www.threadwatch.org/node/5838 An interesting thing I read was if you placed the analytic javacript as they instructed, right before the </head> any issues on their side would cause the entire page not to load. I'm going to put the code on the bottom of my pages, which I should have done to start with.
FYI- Google Analytics now instructs you to place the code on the bottom of your pages. http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=26908&topic=7174
