    Hi,

I have put analytics on a site that has sub domains and now I am receiving the following type of stats in the referring source of the marketing optimization section of the stats.

    1. (direct)[(none)] 200 1.61 0.00% $0.00
    2. simplysearch4it.com[referral] 137 1.24 0.00% $0.00
    3. msn[organic] 1 2.43 0.00% $0.00
    4. articles.simplysearch4it.com[referral] 7 2.57 0.00% $0.00
    5. pictures.simplysearch4it.com[referral] 7 2.86 0.00% $0.00

The stats above are just an example and is not the real stats, but as you can see it is displaying all the urls of my simplysearch4it.com site including the sub domains as referrals. Is this making my stats have false information when it comes to the overall sites average pageviews per visitor and things. Is it displaying the stats wrong and things. Is there something special that you have to do when putting the stats code on your site if you have a sub domain site?

    Please help.

    Thanks!

I can't post links yet but there is an article on the Google analytics site which shows you how to do this. You basically add some code on each of your subdomain pages which tell Google it is part of the same parent domain. Once you do this everything is tracked accurately.
