Google Analytics - Goal or Funnel from Referral site to Buying Page

    Hi All,

I want to setup a funnel or a goal which starts from tracking the user coming from a referral site to my site and then completes the buying process.

*It is very important for me to setup tracking from the "referral" site*

I have looked into *Advanced Segments* of reporting in GA and it looks really strong. 100% customizeable and gives control over the stats but I am not able to make a custom segment report where I can see something like this:

    www.referralsite.com/mywebsite > www.mywebsite.com > www.mywebsite.com/buypage > www.mywebsite.com/buypage/completetransaction

I want to connect the referral site to my Goals(goal here is the buying funnel).

Any expert opinion or any trick that works for you in this kind of typical scenario ???

    -
    Thanks

If you want to do cross-domain tracking, then you need to be able to put your GA code on the referral site.

Sorry for novice questions but I am new with GA

lets say i give the referers a special URI which lands on my site, but my confusion is, does the goal funnel entertains the redirects (jumps) e.g. mysite > another site > mysite e.g.

    Step
    1. /mysite/buy-page/
    2. /mysite/buy-page/enter-payment-detail

JUMP to the remote site to process the payment e.g. http://paymentserver.net/mysite/accnt/xyz and when the user completes the payment it is returned back to the confirmation page at my site

    3. /mysite/payment-confirmation-page/

Should this goal funnel work??? One more thing, since I am making this goal in GA, is there any way to test it quickly becuase I have read in forums that GA updates the stats every 24hrs only!

Same query with a different perspective would be:

e.g. if some user comes from xyz.com and reaches mysite.com and now to track him, he can goto either registration page first or some other page at the site, and after some time he goes finally to the payment page. Does this scenario always work in GA.

    Thanks in advance

    No.
You can't include another domain in your goal funnel, unless as I said before, you have cross-domain tracking. And you can only do that if you are able to put your code on the other site.
As far as the GA and the goal funnel is concerned, it's an exit
And no, you can't force GA to give you the data before 24 hours for this reason - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1766436#post14012815
