Google Analytics doesn't distinguish cpc traffic

    Hi eveyone,

I have Adwords auto-tagging on and even added the utm_source and utm_medium variables to the urls - still no luck - the damn GA doesnt seem to recognize the cpc traffic as such - it shows it as "direct"

the GA code has been verified, all other traffic sources are showing quite fine.

    any insights?

    Hi ,

This is very weird. Do first thing first.

You should never have utm parameters when you have auto tagging enabled. So thats out.

Now once your auto tagging is enabled, can you click on one of your ad and see whether gclid parameter is available in actual URL ? If this is the case, then there could be some issue with your destination URL.

The way analytics track the data is via gclid so if that exist , you should be all set.

However please do keep me posted, this is very unique situation, I would like to help as much as possible to debug.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

Also do this please to make sure you have applied your cost data to GA.

Log in to your AdWords account at https://adwords.google.com.

    Click on the Analytics tab.

Click 'Edit' next to the profile you would like to edit.

Click the 'Edit' link in the upper-right corner of the 'Main Website Profile Information' box.

Check the 'Apply Cost Data' checkbox.

Click on the 'Save Changes' button.
