Google Analytics is a great service. But because of the way it works, it doesn't track everything: no bots, no error pages (only status 200), no pages or objects without script - so no pdf views clicked from elsewhere, etc. See also: Why am I noticing lower pageview statistics?

Personally I feel this is not a problem. Analytics does provide a wealth of useful intelligence information; I'm still discovering new things now and then.

    Yeah,
The stats really do take a long time to figure in, I hope that it is a teething problem only and things will improve soon. I repeat, any place where I can learn more about the information and data available(apart from Analytics help)

Use it and loving it. As mentioned, there are some things it doesn't track, but by using AWstats and G. Analytics I get a pretty full picture... and use AWstats for the real-time part.

Does Analytics really not track bots/spiders?
I just looked through the whole software and could not find a thing.

I used to love watching when SE spiders and bots were crawling my sites, but is this not possible with Analytics? :(

There are other ways to track bots. I think this system is good because I can get a view of real people visiting my sites. There are so many darn spam bots out there these days, it's hard to sometimes tell the difference between real folks and cyber ones! :)

I was previously using stat software calleed BBClone which has a nice simple listing of visitors including bots and spiders which were seperate to normal users - so I would have an exact list including Google, Yahoo etc etc spidering my site. Very nice stuff.

I really didnt want to keep using that along with Analytics but looks like I might have to...

Has this been disabled? I'm unable to see the source code on the Analytics Settings page.

    You're right, I can't find it either.

If someone has the URL they used, and can post the "vid=XXXX" numbers than I think I've got the rest figured out. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark my URL.

You mean the "content optimization-->navigational analysis" reports? Or something else?

I just started using it about a week ago, but it only ever updates once every 24 hours at around midnight. I have read people saying theirs updates every couple of hours, how do I get it to update more often?
