Google Analytics-Are u using it.

Hi,
I just started using Google Analytics for my site www.AroundDelhi.com and find the information really exhaustive. Will like to know how many of you are using it, and how best to use it's data. Also any downside of using it.

yes. its really good and best of all, free.

 

I had a few problems the first week, but it's working fine, now. I don't see a downside unless you're doing something to try and game their system.

 

Downside? - let's see: Google will know everything about your site, they will track all your visitors and steal or your info, and ultimately drop you down the SE listings to force you to pay for Adwords, once they know exactly what keywords you are highly ranked for....

....Oh, wait! That's what those darn Google Conspiracy Theorist keep telling everyone. Don't believe a word of it.

Personally I love Analytics. It gives great information to help you optimize your site for best results, and for AdWord users it adds an easy way to track your conversions. It's definitely a great product.

The only real downside is that all that information could be daunting at times, but heck knowledge is power!

I signed up and I love it. It's simply amazing for my marketing strategies and needs. I'm eagerly awaiting the implementation of AdSense into it. I've been talking to them and they said it's in the works, just going to take some time to get it done.

 

I'm using it as well and very satisfied. And if Google wants to use it to gather informations about my site they can go ahead. I don't care at all

btw sarah - You can add more sites even though the feature is disabled at the moment. You just have to find the line with the url in the source code.

 

LOL GOOD CALL! I hadn't seen that, worked like a charm. I wonder if Google left this in on purpose or not.

They did leave it in on purpose. I think they are waiting for new servers to arrive and just commented the link out until the new servers are up and running. I just don't think that they reckoned on some eager webmasters checking the code!

 

They also didn't think they would have over 200,000 webmasters sign up in the first day, but it happened. It is very odd that Google would be underestimating the power which they have the eagerness of their users. Poor initiation on Google's part.

 

I love it.
Statcounter is better for live reports though, which I use when I'm online.

 

I'm still waiting for Google Analytics to become more like realtime stats. It may never happen, but I'm look foward to at least when it updates a little more often than once every 24 hours. None the less, the service is provides is priceless to me.

 

Yeah real time stats (or at least hourly updates) would make it perfect. But I can't complain - before Analytics was released I solely used Webalizer

 

I never relied on Webalizer, simply too many security holes in my opinion. I personally used shortstat and awstats as a combo for realtime stats and long term in-depth analysis. Google Anayltics helps provide a good central system for it for me.

 

Its's easy to place the script in a dynamic site but on 6000 static pages it's a pain in the neck. The real value of Analytics is to use it on all your pages. That's the downside of using it. More work, work, work!
