when a page load in firefox or ie it shows the location from where data is been transferred in the status bar, now for google analytics, firefox shows that data is being transferred from google-analytics.com but ie does not show google-analytics.com, is it just how it works or could it be that visits from ie6 are not tracked? please answer, thanks.

You can check within Google which browser your visitors are using. I'm sure that some will be using IE6 which will should prove to you that visits from IE6 are being tracked.

From my own site I can see that 76% of visitors are using Internet explorer and of these 28% are using version 6.0

Google Analytics definitely tracks visits from IE6. Maybe it loaded so quickly for you in IE6 that it was not displayed.

It dose not matter what you see in your IE status bar, as GA can and is acctually tracking web browsers including IE ;)
