I'm sure that this has probably been discussed before but why is it that my Google Analytics' data tends to contradict the data supplied by Google Webmasters? I have noticed this on multiple occasions. This is not only a delay in the stats... the information supplied by Google Webmasters is completely inaccurate. Some of my main referring search phrases are not even shown in it's 'Search Queries' page, and the 'Avg. Position' is generally miles off. And the 'Internal Links' page can take months to update. It is useful for checking server errors, missing pages and submitting sitemaps... but the data provided is useless when it is so far from accurate. I can't understand why this is so when they have all the resources at hand that they should need. If Google Webmasters incorporated data from Google Analytics, I'm sure that they could provide much more accurate results, without too much extra load on the server.
webmasters and analytics are different things. webmasters - based on data from the index. analytics - to collect real statistics of visitors.
I'm aware of that. But why is webmasters data so inaccurate? and why don't they both interact with each other?
Well google can not respond quickly to any changes in the Internet? Google is not omnipotent ... In webmasters information appears late, which is quite logical. IMHO the question is not for this forum ...
I agree with camjohnson95 and your question is logical. Its a good thing that you are doing comparison webmaster to analytic. webmaster is useful only better crawling to your site, you can also get information related to extra pages running pages those are not on the website. webmaster also gives the information about meta titles, check duplicate meta titles, tells short meta tags etc.
This is one question I've been wanting answered for a long time but no one can seem to give a clear answer.
I see the same problem... Webmaster has much fewer hits reported that Analytics... Now Bing has added stats - these are also wildly different than Analytics!...
Google Webmaster Tools is based on crawl data (Google ‘pulls’ the data when it pleases) whereas Google Analytics is based on data being sent to Google when a visitor arrives at your site and views each page or specific page elements (Your site ‘pushes’ the data). This can result in a lag in time for data appearing in Google Webmaster Tools as although GWT will have the data for visits as soon as they happen, they may not publish them until they crawl your site. Google Analytics can only track traffic from site visitors that have Javascript enabled whereas Google Webmaster Tools will collect data from sites that have chosen to be crawled through their verification methods.
