Google Analytics accuracy?

I'm wondering after working with Analytics for a while now.. is it really all that accurate? I run another stat tracking program and it shows FAR more uniques and overall traffic than Analytics ever shows.. Also, it seems like Analytics isn't showing traffic coming from the Microsoft search engine Live.

    Anyone else notice these things?

I don't think Analytics track visits YOU make to YOUR site. That might be why you are seeing that.

LOL. No, these are visits coming on on various keywords from Google itself and other search engines as well. It's specific visits not "500 uniques" with no other information. That's pretty funny though, just the same :)

It is strange stuff... I agree there's most likely no way to accurately track EVERYTHING, also. I've heard that Google Analytics may have the short coming of being in javascript because one of the top downloaded plugins for Firefox blocks javascript.

Other trackers like AWStats track a visitor as a Uniqu visitor once a day whereas ANalytics tracks them as a Uniue Visitor forever.

I see quite a difference between awstats and analytics, i just take what i can from both combined to get a rough idea of things.

I think they are "fairly accurate". They are not perfect, but for a free (kind of) service, it is great!

Google Analytics is fairly accurate in comparison with the other trackers.
