Google Analytic Help required

I have defined a goal as follows:

starting point: homepage
end point: Sign up


I am confused as i am getting following:

(exit)-2200
/ -35
search.htm -13

My question is what is the difference between (exit) and "/". (since starting point is homepage. "/" and homepage i hope is the same page.

 

it says you have exits from home page!
