Any thoughts about this new search engine ( http://duckduckgo.com ) ? I'm using it since a couple of months ago and I consider it pretty good, good results, much better than Bing or Yahoo, and much better design and privacity policies than Google. Right now it hasn't image search, I still use Google for that but for everything else looks pretty good. I also tried with a list of proxy IP addresses from other countries to compare the results and doesn't changes too much. What do you think?
never heard of it. its pretty tough competing against big sharks when it comes to search engines so i dont see much hope for such no name search engines. plenty of them like this out there
It has decent rankings and obviously a high amount of traffic judging by Alexa stats but I wouldn't count on it for being a good source of traffic. It is too hard for new search engines to enter the game now days.
To explain why they exist, they created the "http://donttrack.us/" page. Its for those who care about not being tracked all over the web by Google.
I have made a search after I visited the link you gave. The results seemed to be good. However, I don't like their logo. I would have preferred it to be something abstract or not a living being.
It's a great search engine, but it cannot really compete with Google. They are slower, the results are not as good, and the biggest issue is that it's hard to get used to their interface. They are backed by huge investor, but they need to simplyfy their user interface if they want to compete with the bigger players.
I have never heard of DuckDuckGo.com before. I do appreciate your review of the site. I have some question if you know like what is there payment terms? do they accept traffic from aisa and what kind of ads they offer?
Well, It is quite new thing for me, i will give a try to it. Thank you for providing such nice information.
for me, it's the market share... i'm after the visitors.. so if the visitors start growing it'll get on my radar
