Google doesn't use an algorithm at the time of crawl, it just crawls your site and makes a note of the links it finds, while indexing some or all of the pages. The algorithm is applied after the pages have been spidered and added to its index and a search occurs.

The algorithm itself has over 100 factors that include page content, page title, navigation links, incoming links etc. Far tooo mny to list (even if we knew them all) and as it is a mathematical process, not all of them are used all the time, some kick in for certian combinations of factors.
