    Well look at this way....

If your site is truelly great then people will move it to the top
of there results, so you wouldnt be hurt by this but rather would get
more traffic to your site that interested in your products and services.

    On the down side....

If your not in the first few pages then they dont know about you
so then they cant move you to the top cause they dont know you exist
so in the end you will still have to build back-links and try getting to the
first few pages for keyword terms so that they can tag You.

    the reality of it all...

most people dont log in to there google accounts so i dont see this going
very far anytime very soon (couple years)

Intent-based search... That is interesting - any details about it?

yes, my understanding of this is that basically they're trying to work out exactly what the user is looking for in cases where there are possible multiple meanings.

as a example, one of our first terms we took with our new site was **seo demonstration** which could obviously mean what we meant, ie a demonstration of seo techniques, or.. there was a Korean Taekwondo master's video on Youtube, his name was Master SEO, and it was a taekwondo demonstration.

personalized search would already know if you've been looking at karate sites that you wanted the second meaning and alter serps accordingly, and intent based search would be trying to work out which you actually wanted from the search query itself.

obviously they would be working in conjunction with each other anyway as factors in the overall algo.
