Google Algo Changes in PR affecting Social Bookmarks

Im not an expert, and who really is? But Ive noticed that this PR update has hit the PR of Social Bookmarking Profile pages. Ive talked to a number of friends who have seen their social bookmarking profile pages on sites like Mixx, Digg, Stumble and propeller just drop off the PR radar.. GREY BAR!!

So im wondering if this is an algo update as well, further discounting the value of social bookmarking as a way to boost site value.

Ive confirmed this with 8 other people and all of their social bookmark profiles have been effected to some extent.

This to me suggests that there is also no PR passed to the links under these profile pages either...

Anyone else notice this or have a complete explanation?

That could very well be plausible, and does make sense. If Google hadn't taken action against social bookmarking services...every site in the world could potentially gain a high PR, if they really wanted it.

On the subject of social bookmarking services...can anyone tell me where I can buy 'stumbles' and 'diggs' nowadays? Seems they're all banned, and I'll probably get an infraction just for asking for information instead of posting an entire new thread for someone to offer me their services. Dammit

 

I don't think google has taken action against the social bookmarking services themselves.. As now mixx.com jumped to a PR7, i believe that Google is devaluing the actual bookmarks themselves. Since anyone can just add bookmarks, with the click of a button (bookmarklets) it is too easy for any site to get a little juice that way... So i think there is a PR hit there. I still see the links being counted, but value possibly down from what it once was.

Can anyone validate this by some authority figure from Big G?

 

You'll be lucky if you can even get a cleaner from G to give you the heads up haha

 

I think they just devalued the profile pages. Why would a profile have a high pr in the first place

 

well i know of one friend who had a PR6 propeller page and that went grey bar.. i personally had a pr4 propeller and a pr2 mixx page both are grey bar. So i wish i were making this up.. But it's happening.. I wonder if all are losing their PR. I actually had a second prop acct that i rarely used, opened by my brother and it still has some PR, but not active, but all the accts that are playing the game are Grey barred.
