Minor weather report: small upcoming Google algo change will reduce low-quality "exact-match" domains in search results.
    &
New exact-match domain (EMD) algo affects 0.6% of English-US queries to a noticeable degree. Unrelated to Panda/Penguin.

How can you say that algo effects 0.6 %?
And lots of people gave billions of $ for domain quality EMD,
If you remove this algo why do you allow developing this market?
I have lots of web sites EMD and after 28th there is more than %80s traffic lost.
How can you say that they are low quality "exact-match"?
These sites are with unique contents, old, and lots of backlinked sites.

Is there any idea for these websites owners?

I also lost 80% of my traffic and income for one site of mine that got hit by this algorithm update.
My site went from first 10 positions to 300+ positions !! This measure seems way too drastic to me.
From what I red so far a lot of people with some honest sites lost from this. It looks like a lot of not EMD sites got hit hard also. So the 0.6% seems a bit non realistic.
A lot of collateral damage here.

I hope there is still some tweaking to be done on this change. Google is starting to annoy a lot of people with this 'major' changes / updates every few months.
I am starting to think a lot more to get my sites optimized for Bing !

    Yes, exactly true.
I understood google and engineers also cause there is lots of spammers and their sites with lots of domains

    .buy
    .cars
    .cheap
    .clinic
    .eat
    .eco
    .fun
    .funs
    .film
    .food
    .forex
    .forum
    .game
    .games
    .guide
    .halal
    .health
    .help
    .hotel
    .inc
    .kinder
    .............. etc.

But this is their job they have to seperate these sites from others like our websites.
I hope they will read these threads and work again for this update.
    Because 0.6 is non realistic.

I've got several exact match domains. As long as you have quality content then you will be unaffected. Generally this means having unique articles and information that people want to read.

The search results are really bad at the moment. For one niche I was searching there was only 5 different sites in the top 100! ehow, about.com, youtube and a few others! That's rubbish for marketers and users alike! However, non of my MN sites were affected. Quality content and good onsite SEO seems to be the thing that they're targeting.

Its time to focus on bing....... Google is trying their best to make SE for neat and clean. But they din't notice that it hampers a lot for webmasters..... Every few months they are changing their rules.... It is look like we are in primary level of study and every 2-3 months we need to give exam.

Exact match domains are generally registered to ease website ranking in search result. Google doesn't encourage such sites which are built solely for earning from adsense. My one exact match domain is also hit and it is nowhere in search results.

I am not agree with you buddy...if one have EMD and they are having good quality content and everything as per search engine guidelines one should not face this penalty right? If one have exact match domain that doesn't mean you remove their rankings from search engine !!

Exactly, i agreed , Exact match domains are have the highest prices in domain industry and companies pay big money for them. so ofcourse not all EMD are for adsense or low content sites, this update is very useless and effecting domain industry as well.

i agree, if it is a quality site and has EMD then it should be fine and still rank well along side of other quality sites that dont have EMD

it would be bad for those that spent alot on EMD's just for resell. I think this effectively brings their value to zero?

It is a real shame, should be considered criminal that google couldnt at least give some sort of warning. I am all for progress but this has big implications and doesnt give anyone time to react or prepare for it.

The ultimate goal for g is for people to pay for traffic. They don't want you to rank you without getting paid.

I am going to disagree with a lot of you here, and i dont think it will go down well lol. I am glad they devalued EMDs , it has been a long time coming, people think they can register EMDs and shoot their way to the top with spammy techniques that just devalues googles search engine. A lot of people on here and other forums are looking for ways to get a quick $ . Why not build a site that is going to benefit customers and give them information and make them want to return to your site. Instead of have 100 EMDs each making $10 each why not have 5 - 10 decent, good sites that actually benefit the user and have them making $500 each.

SEO is nowhere near dead you just have to stop trying to get a quick $ and make sites that will last and provide value to the customer.
