I have been using this tool to help with my search term off page campaign.

I have found so far that it is a usefull tool to keep an eye on competitors and to keep up with them.

Simply sign up and add the keywords you are going for, then read and respond to daily emails.

What do others think of this?

Hey, i'd never really looked at it before...

However, it looks like it could be quite useful! How some of these things just pass you by! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, it looks like a handy little feature.

    Cheers!

Depends on what term you use it for. With some terms, you'll probably get nothing but spam and other marketers.

It's also a great tool for watching your branding, or monitoring for stolen and duplicate content.

It's the unsung hero of SEO.
If Google didn't offer this FREE, smart seo-ers and marketers would gladly pay hundreds of dollars for this service.

I use ego feeds to monitor mentions - works the same as Google alerts but covers more and updates in an RSS feed.

Google Alerts not only allow you to watch competitors, but also provide nice blogs in your niche that you can leave comments on.

as said above, it is a great tool for seeing when people steal your content... what to do when that happens is another thing...

Great tool to monitor your competitors and the industry as a whole.
As for blog commenting I find it useless as virtually all the blogs have nofollow or comments switched off.
