Google Alerts Tips

Google alerts at http://www.google.com/alerts is turning out to be one of the most used tools I am using offered by Google.
For the newbie’s and people who still haven’t heard about it I thought I put up a list I am using it for.
Feel free to ad to the list - I am still learning myself

Set an alert for your own full name. Not important for SEO but very interesting to see who and where you are talked about.

Set an alert for your own site – see who is linking to you, is your site mentioned in a forum, and so on.

Set an alert for some specific text on a certain page on your site – This can tell you if someone is copying your content. I use this for new articles I publish on my site.

Set an alert for your blog - I get an alert email within an hour of publishing a new post. Gives me peace of mind knowing Google is still on my blog

Set an alert for your competitors website – This helps you keeping an eye on who is linking to your competitor and giving a potential link partner for yourself.

Set an alert for a certain product you might be selling – This will give you the latest news about your product and therefore something you can write about on your site or on your blog. These alerts are very fast, meaning that this info pretty much brand new and so will be your post.

Set an alert for your girlfriend, boyfriend, wife or husband’s full name – be careful, this might break your marriage!

That’s all I remember right now but I think the possibilities are endless.

I have been using Google-Alerts for a while now but never would have thought about putting my own name it..

Remembered one more:
You can setup an alert for searches like site: link: and so one. All commands can be used.

Anyone else has some more alerts tips?
