Google Adwords URL

    Hi,

I have a small question with regards to an Adwords campaign I am running and wondered if you could help?

We have an add that is running successfully but we are closing in to being on first page of google with regards to some of our keywords so I would like to prevent people googling our keywords and clicking the adds rather than the link in the results page?

I know I could use negative keywords but this is against the grain of what we are trying to achieve?

Is it good or bad practice to use a different domain name in the actual add but a then re-direct to the original landing page which would stop people clicking the sponsored add, can this even be done?

To help clarify we have a few thousand portal visitors per day and would prefer them to find us via google not our sponsored adds.

    Hope this makes sense?

    Kindest regards in advance,

    Big Dave

Your display url has to match your landing url. For example, I recently had a client who wanted to do something similar for a different reason - they registered a domain name for a specific seasonal promotion - let's say xmaskittens.com, but it redirected to their usual site allyearkittens.com
Google wouldn't allow the ads with xmaskittens as the display url. (I knew they wouldn't, but had to try and persuade them as the client wanted it) - as the page that was actually landed on said allyearkittens in the browser.

Cheers Magda that's saved me some pain!

    Kind Regards,
