Facebook seems to have a more targeted audience. What has your experience been on using both? Also how many of those ppc's have converted into sales?
Both are great platforms but with a significant difference from one another. Adwords is great for targeting people who are searching for something and are in an instant need. Facebook is great for targeting audiences. Some businesses can succeed with both, some only with one of them, it depends on the product you're selling. I've had success with both
Success with both is simple if you understand what the results could be. Facebook, typically can only produce good conversion results if you are targeting a large audience, the problem is that people use Facebook ads to target tight communities of people so results tend to be poor. The trick with Facebook is to target hundreds of 'tight' niches within a large niche, doing that can bring astronomical results. The problem with FB ads is the CTR is very low, you're looking at a 0.01% CTR on average ads. Thats 1 click for every 10,000 impressions, if your market is only 100k people then you are looking at 10 clicks. Expand the niche and think about what people who would like you, would like. So for example, someone who is interested in soccer, might be interested in a new TV to watch it on. Google is simple and the CTR's can be much higher, 20% is achievable if your KW's are spot on in a tight niche. Conversion can also hit 20% if it all is in order. So with the same 100k people you could theoretically get 4000 customers from Google and 10 clicks from FB. You do the math.
if you comparing conversion of both source then i my case it will be Google Adwords. I was reading something really interesting just now about Google Adwords Vs Facebook. check out at http://www.wordstream.com/articles/facebook-vs-google-display-network
When it comes to FB, I target FB ads to brand products and services and make people aware of our company and Google ads are targeted for people who are looking for your services in search engine
Both are sucks. I have not select the mobile option in adwords, still traffic come from mobile devices. And in facebook, you will get mobile visitors only, if you are not using logout page ads.
With the new enhanced campaigns you can not opt out of mobile devices. What you can do is use a mobile device bid adjustment and lower your bid by 100% if someone is searching on a mobile device. I am not sure if lowering by 100% is allowed but I would try it or maybe 90%.
Both are different plateform but I think Google adword has more features to control your ads and more access to find more target user. If you discuss about conversion then Google search network is better option to convert your click in conversion. Facebook is good for brand awareness or for branding purpose, if you do ppc for branding purpose I think Facebook is good option .
You must be doing something wrong? I am at the moment running a FB ad and a Google ad, and they are both about the same. For $120 worth of ads on FB I have just made $1800 in commissions. Not too bad for a days work... Just need to know what sells and how to sell it on there.
There is no doubt there is Some money to be made with Facebook but if you really think about it... where are people going if they want to buy something/research something... It is rather Google/Youtube than Facebook. People go to Facebook 'after work' in most cases, to check what is going on with their friends and to see some new funny cat videos/photos (not necessarily looking for new business opportunities...) I'd say Google over Facebook but also SEO over PPC! Good luck, Art
From our experience, FB ads are way more costly than AdWords, so if you're on a strict budget there's a slim chance of getting decent traffic. Maybe it's okay for branding and remarketing, but not direct response. Might as well just use display ads on the Google network. If you want traffic with high purchase intent, search ads are still the way to go.
I think facebook ads can do a great job to acquire new fans to your page, and you can then promote whatever you want on your page. Google ads can be a disaster if your landing page doesn't convert or is not optimized for conversions.
