Google AdWords is the pay-per-click advertising system that power AdSense. Pay-per-click mean that advertiser (publicize in order to promote sales or attendance) will pay every time a visitor clicks an ad that take them to the advertiser's website. Advertiser pay to create their ads with AdWords, and publishers (a company or person that prepares and issues books, journals, or music for sale) get paid to display those ads on their web sites with AdSense. You can use AdWords to bring targeted traffic to your web site by creating ads and choos keyword related to your business. AdWords will then place your ad on Google when people search for your specified keyword, and into AdSense placement on related website all across the internet. AdWords is a pay-per-click system so you only pay when AdWords bring targeted user to your web site

Google adwords deals in Pay per click, pay per thousand impression.
