Did you know google advertises on TV? Recently, on the Fox news channel, whenever there was a new report in Israel or Lebanon, they use videos of Google Earth to zoom in on the area. Then, you can see a little Google logo on the top right. This reaches millions of people... Google must be getting a lot of publicity just from this!
Google did strike that deal to pay $900mil for searchin on some Fox sites (Myspace as well as some others) ... so maybe this was written in as a way to associate Fox and Google as having close business ties...
They've been doing this for a while on CNN too. No deals that I know of= it's just that no other company provides a free utililty that allows people to view close up satellite images integrated with maps... which is really useful for journalism.... so it's just a free deal that works out well for everyone.
Come on man, Even kids know what google is. I don't think they need advertising. But ofcourse if their product is used for example: Google Earth, then it's necessary to use a trademark or copyright by google. Ain't it?
that is good.yahoo and rediff do it lot in indian channels i was always thinking why google dont strat.i hope it will do in all countrys
Pussycat Dolls use Nokia N90 in there songs and Rihanna often sticks with using Nokia 3250!!! So NOKIA is famous or Rihanna/PCD?Both Foxnews used there product and they were ought to show the logo and trademark of Google, besides Google is already very famous and Foxnews as well!!!!
You are wrong, Google is not advertising. Fox News is using a service provided by Google. It is obvious they have to give credit to Google Earth program.
i agree with infonote. Fox News should pay for the use of GG Earth because it provide FOX with another feature for the news.
Google Earth is used by major telco's and energy companies and lands departments for mapping. I know! I work for one of them and I use it daily!
Google CEO Eric Schmidt believes television viewers should not have to stand for tv commercials that are “a waste of your time.†Schmidt is frustrated that “When you watch the television you see ads that are clearly not targeted for you.†What does he plan to do about it? Google is preparing to deliver “targeted measurable television ads†and Schmidt says Google has “a good shot at it.†Schmidt expressed his enthusiasm for the $74 billion TV ad market at the Search Engine Strategies Conference earlier this month and described it as a: Big opportunity to provide greater value to advertisers. Schmidt believes Google should be “using our advertising system, our targetability, for every form of advertising.†In “Google developing social and interactive television applications for 'mass personalization'†I present Google research on “Social and Interactive Television Applicationsâ€: focused on using broadcast viewing to automatically present relevant information on a web browser…The system could keep up with users while they channel surf, presenting them with a real-time forum about a live political debate one minute and an ad-hoc chat room for a sporting event in the next. And, all of this would be done without users ever having to type or to even know the name of the program or channel being viewed. Taking this further, we could collect snippets from the web describing the actors appearing in a movie or present maps of locales within the movie as it takes place (no matter if users are watching it as a live broadcast or as a recoded broadcast). Google is currently recruiting software engineers for television applications: Software Engineer, Television Technology - Mountain View. This position is based in Mountain View, CA. Multiple positions available in Mountain View, CA Software Engineer, Television Technology - Seattle/Kirkland. Multiple positions available at our Seattle Engineering Center located in Kirkland, WA Google's designs on the $74 billion TV ad market follow its targeting of the $20 billion plus radio ad market. Google has recently integrated AdSense with its dMarc Broadcasting operations and believes it is on the cusp of “revolutionizing†the radio advertising business, and continuing to grow Google profits. Google CEO Eric Schmidt, at last months Q2 earnings conference call, reconfirmed: we are in the search business, so we need all of the information. We want to partner with people to get information so our search end users can see it. We're also in the advertising business, and we'd like to provide advertising services to people who have their own proprietary content. So depending on where we are in that spectrum, we either do an advertising deal or a content deal or a hybrid deal. But ultimately our goal at Google is to have the strongest advertising network and all the world's information, that's part of our mission.
I think this is another area that they will fail at. They tried to sell ads in magazine and that didn't work out so well for them. They should just focus on search and work on improving that.
That isn't actually direct ADVERTISING, its more like credit giving. I think Google Paid Fox, so that the use of Google Earth is shown widely across the world. IT
Why would Google pay fox? Fox is using their program while giving credit? It's either fox paying, or no one Or, even, fox just bought Google Earth Pro
