If you add a search bar on your site, which is powered by Google, are you required to add the text "Powered by Google" like I see so many sites do? Or can you customize the look of the search bar any way you want it to be?
Ok, so here's what the search bar looks like: http://www.trendspike.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/trend-spike-search-bar.png Can I change the color of the border on the search box? Instead of blue, change it to black for example? Or would that get me banned as well? What about the actual "Search" button? Can that graphic be changed? Basically, what, if anything can be modified as far as looks go?

Hmm, I read that article that you posted. It just doesn't make sense to me though. Why would Google create limitations, just to give you a way to not abide by them? I'm not saying you're wrong. Just saying, it doesn't make any sense for them to give rules for one program that is an exact copy of another program with no rules....
I've verified with them three times... so I'm sure it isn't against TOS (well I can say it because I have an e-mail from them giving me the green light and even suggesting this to me). They have ONE program for people to make money with (AdSense for Search) then ANOTHER for people to create their own "search engine"... it just so happens that they also allow you to link your AdSense account to your "search engine" and you can profit off of clicks with ads. That's the major difference: you're editing something they want you to create and customize to make work for you, then give you the option to link the AdSense account to it. If this is what you want to do, I suggest doing it then asking AdSense to verify it's OK.
I think you can edit the colors of the search bar by logging into adsense » adsense setup » Adsense for Search Edit the colors, etc using the color palette and get the final code and install it.
Fka200 - Hmm, may go ahead and give it a shot, and have them verify it before adding it. Thanks for the info! tendulkar2 - From my understanding, the color palette is to change the actual advertisements on the results page, rather than the search bar itself. Maybe I'm wrong?
