Google Adsense Firefox Referral

I have seen some sites which have a Firefox referral button on the side bar. I tried searching about it in Google and it leads me to some article about Google Adsense Firefox Referral program. But those posts are dated way back 2005-2007.

    Is the program already gone?

Yes it's gone now. If I'm not mistaken, they discontinued Adsense Referall back in 2008.

I remember when it used to be around. You got $1 for each valid referral. I mean i still have my statistics for it when i view my all time stats. I mean right now, what would google gain by getting you to download a rival browser, and pay you to do it?

Same thing they gained back then.

Each person who installed Firefox, with Google as the default search engine, was one less person using IE, with MSN/Live/Bing/whatever.

Google used to pay $1 per Firefox download, but has not promoted their own browser (Google Chrome) on Adsense.

Google is the major contractual investor in FireFox, but they also have their own Chrome browswer. So the next time the contract comes due it will be interesting to see if Google dumps money into Firefox again. The strategy for now has been to take a big bite out of Microsoft and it seems to be working. Microsoft's Internet Search Unit is their only loosing division.

Yeah.. that's right, the program has been retired on 2008. I wonder why Google does not promote thei browser 'chrome' via a referral program that pays for each download?

It was 2008 - the proof is right here from the Adsense Firefox Referral King himself: No More Firefox Referrals
