Google adsense CANADIANS

    my "standard delivery" check has usually arrived by now.

    are any other canadians still waiting on their adsense check by standard delivery ?

    if you have already recieved yours , can you tell me what date you recieved yours on , so i can decide if i should start worrying theres a postal worker with my check :)

    I just do the electronic bank transfer method. figured it was more paper-friendly and .. well .. instant. :)

    Ofcourse Canada has that option. The U.S. and Canadian Banking systems are closely tied together so whenever a US company wants to setup ETF's with other countries Canada is always among that list.

    O.P. you should really consider getting the electronic bank deposit setup. The pay period with Adsense is long enough to begin with no need to add the extra mail and cashing times.

    just a quick update , i got my cheque today , it was for several thousand so i was a tad worried they had done a courier or something..

    dunno why it took so long, i usually get it much quicker.

    on a side note.. the value of my check dropped $500 from the time i earned it to the time i got it because of the exchange rate , thats a real bummer

    ( i.e. the earning were for september the canadian dollar has risen so much just in the 40 days it took for them to send the cheque )

    i dont trust computers hahaha

    ironic isn't it.. problem is bank's are not very "people friendly" when it comes to problems.


    heres a short story on why..

    At the time i was working as a travel agent. I had about $2000 in my savings account..

    I went in on payday as usual and tried to withdraw funds for bills and such. ( $500 )

    The teller says " i'm sorry you dont have enough money in your account to withdraw this amount )

    i say " there must be some mistake i have over $2000 in that account. "

    Teller " no mistake sir it shows your balance as $350"

    me - " well thats impossible unless someone has stolen money from my account somehow , i dont have an atm card nor do i have checks so the only way someone can withdraw money is by wire or by coming in to the bank "

    Teller - " i can only tell you what i see and you balance is $350"

    me- " ok well can i see list of transaction on my account this month as i have my statement from last month showing the correct balance.

    Teller - " there haven't been any transactions on this account in the last 30 days "

    me - " and what was my balance last month"

    Teller - " $2600 "

    me - "well explain how it is that my balance was $2600 and now its not"

    Teller - "I'm not sure , perhaps bank fee's "

    me - " $2000+ in bank fees ?"

    Teller - "theres nothing more i can do for you , if you would like to speak to the bank manager you cam "

    me - "yes i would like that "

    I wait half hour only to be told to come back on monday morning to speak to the manager " he left early today "

    monday morning rolls around. basically i repeat everything that i said with the teller with the bank manager and he basically says the same thing the teller did. " we will send it to our fraud department " he says

    me - " and how long will that take , ? if you cant explain where my money went then put the money back in my account until the fraud dept talks to you. "

    manager "sorry we cant do that , we have strict policies against that "

    me " i have strict policies against having my money removed without my consent "

    manager " you will just have to wait until the fraud dept gets back to you , i'm not sure how long that will take , they are really busy "

    me " well what am i supposed to do in the meantime for money ?"

    manager " thats not our problem"

    then the clincher, i go back out and try to withdraw the $350 that was left in my account.

    teller " sorry this account has been sent to the fraud dept and we can't touch any of the money in the account until they contact us "

    fast forward 2 weeks , i haven't heard a thing back , i'm pissed.

    i walk in to talk to the fraud dept.
    " i have been waiting patiently for 2 weeks without access to my funds , whats going on ? "

    fraud dept- " i'm sorry we havent been sent anything to initiate a check on this account"

    me - "pardon , i'm not following you "

    fraud dept " we dont have a file on you "

    i explain the situation again to the fraud dept from start to finish , i show him my statement showing my funds and my new statement showing no transactions , minus most of my funds "

    fraud dept " ok well i will file this right away , but i have to tell you it could take a few weeks "

    me " i have already been waiting 2 weeks "

    Fraud dept - " we havent had the file "

    me " ok well now you have the file can't you have it rushed through knowing i have been without access to my account for 2 weeks now "

    fraud dept " sorry it goes in order as they were recieved "

    me - "i guess i will have to wait then "

    fraud dept " you could get a loan for the time being and open another account"

    me - " not likely , all my money vanished and you can't tell me why and you want me to open another account ? whats to say they dont lose all that money too ?"

    fraud dept" i was just suggesting an alternative"

    me - " contact me back by telephone please as soon as my funds are back in my account "

    fast forward 3 weeks

    i finally recieve a letter from the fraud dept.

    cliffnotes. " you couldnt withdraw funds because you had insufficient funds to cover what you requested"

    ??????????????????? WTF

    basically they didnt do anything as far as i could tell and didnt provide me with any reason why the money was gone.

    i went back in and spoke to the manager again , more drivel ,

    over the next several months i filed several "appeals" in a nutshell i got NOTHING back , not even the $350 that was left in the account.

    teller - "sorry that account has been closed "

    me " it's my account and i didnt close it ? "

    teller - "you could speak to the manager "

    me " i give up "

    ----------------

    ok now if that wasn't enough to turn me off banks listen to this..

    in the meantime throughout this whole ordeal i couldnt cash my work checks because i didnt have a bank account anymore. lol so i had been cashing them at the bank they were drawn on ( my works bank account )

    i did this for about 4 months, every payday ( friday ) i would leave work , go to their bank , cash the check , on my way.

    after 4 months and the hassles with my own bank i finally decided i might as well open an account with the same bank as my work does, this will hopefully avoid any future problems..

    next payday rolls around , i go in to cash my check as usual and the after taking my cheque the teller says " sorry it's after 5pm and all checks that come in on friday after 5 wont be available in your account until monday.

    i am shocked. for 4 months like clockwork i came in to cash my check AFTER 5pm without even having an account.. now that i have an account i have to wait until monday to get the cash .

    needless to say i'm pissed

    me - " i cant believe you treat your customers this way , you treat NON-customers better , if i didnt have an account here you would have no problems cashing the cheque , but now that i do have an account i cant cash my check , thats absurd "

    teller - "bank policy "

    me - " ok well give me the check back and i will go to a cheque cashing place to cash it then , i don;t wanna wait until monday "

    teller - " sorry sir once i have depositied the check i cant give you the cheque back"

    now i go apeshit . " i want to speak to the manager right now this is ridiculous , i'm not leaving without my money or my check PERIOD"

    teller " ok but i can tell you now its in the system there so way to get any money out until monday and i can't give you the cheque back"

    but guess what. i found a way around their rules.

    i told the bank manager i wanted my account closed NOW , and funnily enough they had to give me the money for the check they just took but supposedly couldnt cash"

    so in the end i got it cashed my becoming a non-customer again..

    needless to say thats why i dont trust eft

    You have the right reason and most of the banks sucks.
    But i suggest you try to find more user-friendly banks and open an account with them. ask DP users in a thread for good customer care rating banks.
