Google Adsense Ads allowed in Poker Websites? I am confused

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by proversatility, Mar 7, 2008.

I have built a new poker information website. It deals with giving information on poker tips and tricks for newbie's and also reviews on poker websites. I am damnly confused whether I can put Google Adsense ads in my website, as because someone told me that Google does not allow gambling websites.

So i wanted to confirm from my DP friends and experienced webmasters, that if i can get into some sort of trouble (like banning of my adsense acc or else) if i put Google ads in my poker website.

    My website link is www.earnfrompoker.info.

Do help me out, I would be waiting for your suggestions :)

AdSense does not allow gambling websites. It's unlikely they would ban you personally, but they'd certainly ban the actual site or ask you to remove the ads.

You can find the rule in the Site Content section of the Program Policies.

It's confusing because large sites are allowed to put adsense on pages with gambling content, but small sites always get denied.

Most probably you can't run AdSense on poker sites.
Since your site is providing reviews, etc. you might try to simply email them and ask. The chances are small though.

Hmm...I just started a poker and card supplies site. We don't have any gambling there, we just have products, so I'm wondering if that will be a problem with Adsense.

The TOS isn't always enforced so it leads to a lot of confusion. topix.net/poker has both gambling-casino content and links directly to online gambling sites, but Google allows Adsense to run there. So the TOS is ignored for larger publishers.

I suppose you can ask Google why they are so hypocritical and that you want the same rights as Topix, but I assume they would just deny you without explaining why exceptions are granted.

Here's a question...if poker related websites aren't allowed to have Adsense, how come the ads that are showing on my poker supplies site include "custom poker chips", "poker tables" and "professional poker cards". Seems like Google wouldn't allow those sponsors if they weren't mean to be advertised on a poker site. Maybe it's just the actual Gambling sites that you can't run Adsense. Seems like a grey area for sure.

You can sell products like poker chips and tables. You can't offer gambling or link to sites that offer gambling, again except if adsense gives you an exemption like they allow topix.net and some other other large sites.

Do'nt use Adsense on poker websites, because you'll banned by adsense. You can use bidvertiser on poker related websites.

The game of poker will be deemed as gambling in the eyes of Google whether you just talk about the history of it or promote it.

Do not risk losing your account with AdSense by promoting anything related to poker.
