I've been approached to do some article marketing for a real ale brewery but I'm worried about going against google's TOS. I'm confused because although Google does not allow alcohol promotions it does sell adwords to real ale breweries. My plan was to write articles about the brewery and link to its site which does not have google ads. Comments would be appreciated.
The rules are stricter for publishers than for advertisers, because advertisers don't really have control over where their ads appear on publishers' sites. That means the content of publishers' sites has to be a squeaky clean as possible, to appease the most finicky advertiser. Here is the Adsense rule: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105948 So if you are just writing about brewing, you should be OK.
