Google Ads not targetted at all...

    Hey guys,

I have a bit of a problem... most of my Google Adsense ads are not targetted at all. The site has been live for just over 3 months and nearly all pages are indexed. Additionally, I can see the Google Adsense Bot check the site quite often.

I even included a <!-- google_ad_section_start --> and <!-- google_ad_section_end --> to try and improve the ads but no luck.

You can have a look: www.seekopia.com. The ads are on the home page, on section pages (http://www.seekopia.com/t/entertainment/all) as well as posts (http://www.seekopia.com/post/facebook/1231). Does anyone know why?

It's quite a problem as my traffic is going up but my earnings aren't. Even on some posts that are quite specific (like posts about love), the ads have nothing to do with the content.

Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks,
    Marc

They look fairly targetted to me.

    On this page:

    http://www.seekopia.com/post/online-advertisement-and-internet-marketing/1264

they are very targetted as there is lots of content and <h> tags to input with keywords

    This page however:

    .
is quite vague and the adwords tend to pick up on 'jokes' and 'nervous'.

This is one of the problems with displaying ads on pages with user content. General Interest forums experience the same thing.

Have you got an example of what kind of ads you expect to be displayed and on which page?

Hmm, I see what you mean. Ideally the Adsense uses the tags of each post to decide what to show but obviously this is not possible right? Is it 'legal' to put the section targetting tags around just a few words?

You can try and target ads on your site with Google AdSense adsection tag. It has helped me in several occasions, it could help you too.

    Cheers

The tags suggest to Google what you would like to be targetted for but it is only a suggestion.

Google wants to make money by displaying truly relevant adsense which may result in conversions. That is how they make their money. If the advertiser is getting non-relevant clicks from your network then they will cancel it and stop spending.

Using targeting tags is ideal for example if you have an article which tells you all the negatives about 'petrol cars' and all the positives about 'diesel cars'.
In that article you would suggest to google the second half which is promoting diesel cars. Google will then more than likely display results for diesel cars.

You can't be as specific as suggesting one single word, such as your tags.

Yes, you should try using keywords on posts and key phrases, perhaps even making them bold and underlined at times....

Use SEO techniques and that will do it! SEO works great for this also, to make everything on your site more targeted!

    Hope that helps!

may be you wanna try putting less ads in your adblock to get lesser but more trageted ads. It works.
