Google Ads : Image or Text ads

I am using Google Adsense to display ads on my blog, which is a programming blog .
But i am in a confusion whether to go for Image Ads or Text Ads.
Though image ads looks gud, it makes to make the site slower.
Also i am not sure whether the text ads will generate attention as much as image ads.
Currently im using 1 image ad and 2 text ads (all on sidebar 250 x 250).

Can you please suggest which ads suite best for my blog.

    Thanks in Advance. :)

Use image/text option. Using only image will not be a good idea, since people have ad blindness and will ignore image ad right away.

Use image/text combo...you'll get more advertisers and more clicks. I tried it myself and it works :) Good luck!

I'd also recommend link units if you have the space. You can have 3 of each, AdSense image or text ads and AdSense link units, which look like text links. I've found they work pretty well.

let adsense decides, or if you like to do testing you can analyse if images are better than text, in one month.

yes you go to adsense admin, ads performance, you then select on the left column ad types.
you can first select a particular ad unit and then add a dimension / ad type in the drop down list above.

Also there is the performance part.
I know text ads will take less time to load, but will they get noticed as image ads.
Image ads on the other hand, increase the loading time too.

In my experience you must use a combination of 2:1 ratio
it means if you have 2 text ads then you must have at least one image ad on your pages.

Use them both. You may also try ad link units.

I personally use the image/text combo but looking at my ad stats my text ads are the main ones getting clicked and their CPC is better anyhow.

I would say that text ads would generate more clicks as your blog is a programming blog.

Hi All, Thanks for your valuable comments.

As i see most people here suggest that Text Ads are better than Image Ads.
Reasons : Better CPC, More Clicks and Performance. And yes Ad-blindness too...

So, i have decided to stick with 2 Text Ads for my blog and instead of adsense image ads i have decided for paid advertising.
Here is my post for that : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2526077

    Thanks again for your suggestions.

Depends on the site, but if there are tons of pics on my site, I try and blend the pic ads in. (Keeping good with TOS) and same goes for text, I like to blend and make it look almost part of the site.
