    Hello,

Are ads from google allowed to be placed in the overall_footer & overall_header in a forum?

    Thanks

    Hi chimpysmith
google never refuse if you put ads on top, bottom, right or even you replace your navigation bar with ads

You can put Adsense ads anywhere on a page provided:

The content is TOS compliant and the users can distinguish between the content and the ads.

I stand to be corrected, but I remember reading somewhere that you can not do that.

The ads are not allowed to be shown on pages such as registration pages and you need to block the ads from being shown there. Then only can you place it in the over-all header and footer of PHPbb.

    Rian is right,

You shouldn´t place ads in overall_header and overall_footer because those files are used for non-content pages like login, registration, search form etc. And Google's TOS don´t allow ads to be shown on non-content pages.

So you should place your ads only in index_body, view_forum and view_topic files.

Thanks for confirming this Dogs_and_Things, I remember reading about this a while ago.

I remember reading about a few webmasters who had their adsense accounts banned years after making use of the overall-header & footer ads.

You cant say it any better that this. As long as you don't modify the code also you'll be good. My code is not in my header or footer, its in my database, (technically)
