I'm beginning to think that nobody on this thread knows what the 950 is? Several of asked and nobody answered. So, what the heck is it?
I was starting to think this was just a cruel joke people were playing but I've seen it mentioned on a few other forums. From what I can gather, the -950 penalty is when a particular page/website drops in the search engine rankings by approx 950 places for a given search term i.e. a page ranking #5 for 'example' suddenly drops to #955 and stays there. It seems quite a few people have experienced this problem and have had their websites running for years only for their ranking to suddenly drop. This does not affect ALL search terms and pages that have dropped and they may still rank highly for other search terms. I haven't found out how or why this happens.
and im beginning to think no-one on this thread reads the links people post..? not mine, but the absolute authority on this is the WMW thread. its the google "over optimisation or SEO" filter. you hit it by taking liberties with your onsite optimisation. adding your kws into your nav structure is a good way to do it, thats how we hit it. you'll suddenly find yourself languishing at between 930 and 970 for a kw youre were doing ok in. hence "-950. " however it is very complex with ongoing threads discussing it for approaching 2 years now and far beyond the remit of a playtime forum like this to explain. if you really want to know go read about it in the serious forum I linked to..
I practiced GOOD seo but now what I am seeing is that my site has lost all the page 1 ranking and I keep falling. As of today, I am now on #37 :S My competitors who keep buying links are doing far much better than I am. Good SEO practices? I think they don't work anymore :S
Just google - "google 950 penalty" - it is when your page drops off the search engine. The drop is usually about 950 places thus the name.
Some idiot said 950 penality, and all think that this stuff realy exist. I got 2664654643463 penality.
Here is a continue of 950 Google penalty discussion I found usefull: http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3215939.htm
The name is a bit confusing, actually -950 penalty may be also -6, -10, -50 etc penalty. Usually these are algorithmic (automatic) penalties because of overdoing SEO. Most common reason is exact match between title, h1 and keywords in homepage links. Works for single keyword and phrases as well. Penalty will be removed also automatically after "deoptimizing" and crawling/indexing updated pages.
The google -950 penalty can occur because of many reasons. So if you remove the problem from your site, then I guess you will get rid of this penalty.
