Google +1 is yet another attempt to make Google more social. It's Google's version of the Facebook "likes", a simple feature that's very powerful because it's part of a social network. Google will show +1 buttons next to all search results and ads, while encouraging other sites to include the buttons. All +1's are public and they're tied to Google Profiles. The goal is to use this data to personalize search results and ads by recommending sites +1'd by your friends. Google Social Search already does this, but there's no support for Facebook likes, so Google had to come up with a substitute. "+1 is the digital shorthand for 'this is pretty cool.' To recommend something, all you have to do is click +1 on a webpage or ad you find useful. These +1's will then start appearing in Google's search results," explains Google.
If Google put too much weight on this or take this into account towards SERP, it might be abused. We don't mind seeing a healthy competition with Facebook of course
I like +1 feature of Google but if their is +1 then their is -1 also to stop spam sites. but +1 feature is not showing in google.com.
For Google social sites, applications and services, this could be a wonderful connotation but for serp and ads, this is not good idea and tend for another abuse..
To me, as a Google user, +1 feature is very helpful in sharing the quality web pages my network. It even highlights how many times a page has been shared. This helps in determining the popularity of the page.
I can not see this + 1 button yet. But I installed the Chrome plug-in - FB like to the search engines results - it 's good!
I think its pretty good to see and gonna work very well for website owner as well as for users. Because through this every body can know which site has more quality.
