when google visits your page, it takes a copy of your pages. this is called index. Whe someone clicks the search button on google, G run queries on these indexed pages

it is very easy to know whether your site is indexed or not. just search the url of your website in google. If u have a google ID you have a host of webmaster tools that helps you in customising your site.
If your site was already indexed by search engine your site has the possibility to have rankings and be more visible to users.
does this have anything to do with the information it displays under your site link for your site. can you change what they have it say..? robot.txt by any chance
