    Hiya

I have just started up a new sister website a week ago and Google seems to have indexed every page BUT the homepage.

Has anybody encountered anything like this before?

Does your homepage consist of very little content, and contains only a menu structure, with links to the other pages?

    Just wait sometime... is OK.

Only when the robot, meta tells googlebot no index, google will index your homepage.

I think Google wil soon index your home page. This is the situation we face with new sites where we submit some of our site pages in social media kind of sites

check with different datacenters and also make sure you have links to your homepage from inner pages...

    Also check in Google Webmasters

This is the first time that I've heard about it :)
Is the sitemap ok and is the internal link structure between all the pages fine and are all of them pointing back to the homepage?

Well.. I'm also hearing this for the first time... Just be patient. It will be indexed soon.. To make the process quicker , try to submit your homepage url to some social bookmarking sites like digg, etc.

    Thanks for all the replies

The site has around 10 backlinks from PR1-PR4 sites at the moment and was indexed within one day, just not the index.html page.

The menu never point to index.html but to '/'. I woul dof thought the index would be first to be picked up by Google but I guess its just a matter of waiting
