i would like to know the techniques to create good content , and also i would like to know if duplicate content is given any value for SERP. If i take some contents from a site which is not in my niche , how will google see this content?
To create good content, first research, then write, edit and spellcheck. Duplicate content doesn't fare that well in google serps, unless you are using grey or black hat techniques to conceal that the content is copied. Not sure about the other SEs. Google above all other SEs can fairly well tell if you put up content that does't relate to your site's topic.
First What do you mean by "Take content" from a site which is not in your nitch? Second there are "techniques" like : Pay someone to write content for you , Research "your nitch" to find troubles and write articles . Search for related news and give your comments on it. Proof read your articles / content before publishing, Those are a few... regards jeet
i mean like with a blog .. in a blog many niches can be targetted , so taking content from a niche will hurt the SERP of my site?
It is my understanding that duplicate content isn't always frowned upon, especially when combined with mostly original content. There are sites that use article libraries, RSS feeds etc. that re-distribute content. Also, many bloggers track back or link back to original content and write their comments about it. They may not duplicate the whole piece, but certainly part of it. Niche sites are ranked best when they are kept on-topic. If you want to create a generic site, then do that instead. Then you can write about whatever you want. In response to the "good" content question; if you are not comfortable writing yourself, then hire the writing out. I use writers from Elance for most of my heavy content sites.
You can check the content with something like www.copyscape.com which will tell you how much of your content is elsewhere on the net. But I have heard (and dont take this as gospel) that 60% of same content is around the point google will sting you. Brad
