My host lets me have webalizer for my webstats. It only shows the top 20 of the 200 or so keywords that have been used to find my site. Is there another one I can use that will let me see all of them? I don't want to put a script at the bottom of the pages; I'd prefer something else - that read the log files or something.
Does your host support AWSTATS? If you're on cpanel hosting, you might want to request for awstats from your current host. awstats displays a list of all keywords that's used to access your site.
For logfile crunching I've used http://www.analog.cx/ which is a server-based solution (need to brush on on Linux/Unix admin). There's also http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/, which I've not used, but know people that get by with it just fine. On the commercial side, try NetTracker (www.sane.com) or ClickTracks (www.clicktracks.com). I've used both of these as well, but give NetTracker the nod for being simple and straightforward. HTH LC88
It says analog and webalizer. I'll email and ask. I've heard of awstats, that should be available to all cpanel hosts I assume?
If you want something fast and always up-to-date, take a look at ShortStat (just google it and you will find it.)
dunno if its available in all, but its FREE and you host shouldnt say no, if they wont at the end of each month download your RAW access logs and find a program on the net that reads them.
Yes, the three stats programs are available for free through cpanel. Your host just has to enable the application through WebHostManager (WHM).
I have WHM access to the sites I have a VPS there so I can create as many accounts as I want thru it. I was looking thru it last night, but didn't see it in there. Do you know what option its under?
Google just announced this: http://www.google.com/analytics/index.html It's free. It must be based on Urchin. Looks like the other vendors will be shaking in their boots this morning...
