I Use Private Shell privateshell.com i love it. If your a beginner at going around linux you can secureFTP into your server. Its like windows
what if I need to enter shell commands, not only tranfer files between windows workstation and linux server ?
It Dose that too * terminal connection (SSH1, SSH2, Telnet, serial port device); * file transfer connection (built-in SFTP client); * database connecton (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, DB2); * CVS repository access; * e-mail server connection; * VNC server connection; * X11 tunneling; * and more.
I have to agree with the three posts above. My son said Putty was the best of the bunch and free to boot. Since I usually feed him and then tell him what I want done I followed his advice.
Putty is quite good. Small and workful. As there are not much required to use without connecting to a server remotely so i think putty is the best
putty is ok, but there is something much better. SecureCRT is by far the very best ssh/terminal tool I have ever used. It is not free, but it is superiour in every way to putty. I use it in my day job, and without this software I literally would not be able to do my job (server and network admin). If you are stuck with WindoZe, and need to admin Unix boxes forget putty. I used it for about a year, and after using SecureCRT for a week of the 30 day trial, we told our company to buy it for all of us.
I use the free putty and what I also do is rename putty.exe to ssh.exe so I can type "ssh" from the command prompt just like in Linux.
