good sound format

can some 1 tell me a good sound format to convet mp3s.
It must be low space and high quality.

I heard that .rm is good.but i convert it takes big space.
can someone put the converter name and sound settings

 

I am no guru at sound...but...I thought that once you got to the mp3 type compression you were about as tight as you could go...except for possibly reducing the mp3 quality (sampling rate, etc.).

Just my thoughts and recollections...

 

You really can't get much smaller than mp3. If you really need the files to be as small as possible, you could create the mp3's at 96kbps instead of the typical 128kbps.

I wouldn't really recommend it though as compressing them that small tends to lose lots of information and the resulting sounds aren't always that great.

Try VBR mp3. (variable bit-rate)

 

There should be mp4 available already, it uses more intelligent compression than mp3
It is not well supported in all the old audio-players thought.

 

You can try for .WMA! thats also gives you a perfect web result however you can increase the KBPS
