Hi everyone.. I think it's a very interesting dilemma. In the one hand we try to put as much keywords as we can in the content, make title for the images and also we title links. In the other hand, we try not to look as spammers (becuase we are simply not) and to avoid BAD points in google. There is any limit of keywords (in title, image-alts, link-title etc.) or other things we take care of in the preparation for google crawls? What do u do when in the one hand you make your site ready for crawls, and in the other hand avoid looking like a spammer.... I read alot of articles, but I think it's better to hear the public in this issue. Thanks in advance, Guy
if you go in certain circles everything is spamming I look out for nubmer one and do whatever helps the site get ranked
That's a good point. I reckon the key is Reverse Engineering! Just visit the top 10 sites for the keywords that you are targetting and model your site on those sites. Don't stuff keywords in the title tag or content, as a rule. BUT, it is important to have keywords in the title tags, content, ALT tags etc. But remember that this is only half of your work. The rest is those nice little back links, to get your PR higher.
If you wish to concentrate on one issue, forget keyword density, title tags image alts etc. There are lots of examples of good ranking which do not use the search term at all. Just keep repeating to yourself the word ANCHORS and spend a little time of each day of your life trying to get more. Pictures of Houses : Andalucian horses for sale
I've seen spammy techniques gain a lot of one page impression traffic but obviously the visitors' needs were not addressed (the real answer may have been even just a click away) so they went elsewhere. Since developing a personalised strategy (based on study, trial, error, monitoring) I've seen better targetted traffic results, more pages per user and longer visits. IMHO good content is king. Do what you're good at and what you know. Add a relevant IBL strategy, optimise for what's on the page and go out earn a genuine reputation for providing what people want and need. Also be aware that the engines do change and have changed, so by relying on one technique may get you high (LOL) but may not last forever. ...just my humble opinion Black hat, white hat. Grey hat. Multi-colured hat. Some fit, some don't. It's all down to what suits you and what works
I definitely agree with Lever. Just be careful of not using the most obvious spamming techniques like repeated words, small text, link farms, etc. Work on your content and provide your visitors with the information they are searching for and become an authority on your subject. Anyway, what good does it make to have visitors in your site if they leave right away, costing you resources such as bandwidth and taking with them just a bad impression and a feeling of having being deceived by the search results.
I agree 100%. I havn't used any spammy SEO techniques and my sites are ranking wonderfully. Time and content seem to be the best SEO .
I have found tons of backlinks seem to work ok I'm not much of a writer , so the content thing doesn't work for me I can of course use xml feeds to generate a little content
If you negelect any part of SEO (and Google is fond of telling us they rank on more than 100 factors) then you are leaving the door open for a competing page to gain on you a bit. IMO at the moment anchor text links are the most important ranking technique at Google, but I still page attention to page content and tags. IMO getting rankings is only a part of the battle, after taht you have to convince the searchers to click thru to your site, and once they have you still have to convince them to buy or use your products or services. While it may sometimes be easier to use spammy techniques to rank well it is not an absolute necessity. Bottom line, your job is to get the pages ranked well, and to insure that they remain ranking well.
"and Google is fond of telling us they rank on more than 100 factors" I think google just made that up to tell people what type of press release would it be if google said ''well 95% of our search engine is based on links, then there is words in ittle tags, and if there i s nothing else to go by then maybe text" can imagine them saying that,
I couldn't have said it better myself. Linkation, Linkation, Linkation (almost the imortal words of Famous Amos)
SEO means optimizing a website for search engines and not spamming and one should create a useful website. You should create something useful and put value in your website so that people would like to link back to you. This is known as natural link building. Popular blogs attract tons of free backlinks due to their value in their blog.
