I have used some of those and I sincerely recommend 2 of them . the first Is Xgen Seo and the second one is SeNuke. If you follow their tutorials and you learn from them you could easy dominate the searches for your choosing terms. Of course it all depends on the competition level you have. In this case those programs will work for you but you have to do more work.

I like the companies that offer at least a one week trial, they seem to be more professional, like Market Samurai

 

I'd say coming from a web design perspective the Firefox Addon "Web Developer" and Google Webmaster Tools are the best.

 

I'd be looking for something that can do the following:
- mass-socialbookmarking with spinning of text
- (semi-)automated directory submission
- automated establishing forumprofiles

 

For Keyword, ranking checking and SEO competition, Market Samurai does a great job. Especially at Keyword research and ranking checking.
