or you can just outsource your seo to someone else and become a reseller for them. that works you just need to make sure that you aren't getting taken and the work they produce is quality work. a free trial isn't too much to ask for at least that's what i did and my clients and I are very happy with the success that we've had and continue to have Marissa
I am going to have to concur with Ryan on this one. There is no magic bullet. The best way to learn is to simply start doing it, break stuff, figure out whats wrong, and fix it. Nigel

what you can do? do experiment. SE algorithm always change. So we have to follow and do experiment anything.
I didn't know anything about SEO, whatsoever, but Google will help you out. All you have to do is ask, ask, and ask. That's what I did and know I run my own SEO company. Keep asking, the answer will come.

Also, the real-life experimentation thing, obviously, is really good, too. IMHO, reality is that techniques succeed or fail for many situation-specific reasons. The best at SEO do it for themselves. The worst do it for others or worse, they try and teach it to sell ebooks. My best advice is to find a site that is doing extremely well and befriend the owner, ask for advice, create a real mentoring type of friendship/relationship. I know SEO but would never teach everything I know to others cheaply because the internet today is all about getting paid. To get paid you need to learn to shut up and do it, not run to some forum and post how L33t you are because you had luke warm results somewhere. Shut up and get paid, there's a good moto.

I had followed a lot of advice and was able to get a project on page 1 of G (only about 18000 competing sites/ I know baby steps for the experts here) but got slapped down heavily before I read the book in my sig. I was using too many anchor text with the exact phase. Additionally I went too fast when getting IBL's. My advice to get started to is to look into the Sandbox. Reverse your research first just like you would reverse SEO. Drill down and find out what trips filters for G (or what is presumed to) and at the same time you will find out how people are making there way up top. Hope this helps.

Just learn few things like what is Keywords how to improve density of keywords. Directory submission , bookmarking ,forums... if you read ebook it will only tell what is seo.... no one will tell you how to do it... say for example i just wrote that learn bookmarking ..... bookmarking is pretty easy concept.. but when you will actually try it you will face many difficulties because each bookmarking site will have different terminology to submit links.... so...its better to start implementing... just create one blog.. write some useful post and start seo...
