Can anyone shed some light as to why Yahoo doesn't like me very much while Google loves me?

Some rankings for my site www.playedonline.com:

"Free Online Games" - 197 Yahoo, 14, Google
    "Free Games" - 200+ Yahoo, 21 Google
"Online Flash Games" - 200+ yahoo, 47 Google
    "Online Games" - 200+ Yahoo, 62 Google

I rank about the same in both, I'm talking about 1st and 2nd page, but traffic from Yahoo is really low, so don't worry.

How recently did you acheive those rankings? Yahoo is extremely slow in updating their SERP results. While google updates certain search terms almost hourly. So check back in a little while its just that google is faster:p .

Yahoo favours off-site optimisation, link backs and anchor texts - those sort of things.

The best way that you can is to balance your optimization. Google gives priority to quality backlinks while yahoo give importance to content.

to rank in yahoo serp is much harder.
older site with good domain name will ranked higher in yahoo.

there seo effort is triple of what you need for google ranking.
    this is what i seeing.

updating of yahoo is slow compared to google.we find less index paging in yahoo which serves less contents than google. yahoo covers only 14 percent of info where as google covers above 90 percent.due to this reasons yahoo is ranked 2nd while google goes with 1st.

Same here. I think we all optimize our websites with google in mind, that's why Yahoo feels neglected :)) They seem to put very much weight on the domain name. I have a 3 yrs old website that's ranked 1 on google for the terms I'm interessed in but a newer site, that ranks bad in google, tops me on yahoo just because they have the most important keywords in their domain name. I really don't bother for yahoo, I guess they are way, way behind google. And the reason is obvious.

Google makes some updates in search ranking from time to time but yahoo is always slow in updating. However, if we based the links, yahoo recognizes a lot of links while google are strict. Only quality links can be categorized as a 'valid links' in google.
