Good ranking, but need to change Page title – How will this effect my ranking ?

    Hi everyone,

One of my domains has been in operation for about a year now, and has some good ranking for my chosen keywords. (it can be seen HERE)

The issue is that the direction of the company is changing, and I really want to change the page title of the home page and the page text to reflect this.
However, how bad can this effect my existing positioning?

I don’t really want to set up a new page for the new products / services, I’d rather use the home page as this is the ‘window’ to the rest of the site.

Long term would I be right or wrong to change the page title?

    ---------------------
    Thanks, Dave

If your changing the title for each page and there is a lot of pages and your getting rid of the keywords that are in your title and exchanging them for different ones you may see a drop in your rankings yes, however if your just changing the way the title is worded and keeping the same words probably a slight drop for a week maybe then it would increase again.

    Hi,
In my point of view if you change your title may be you lost you current SERP and after some time your site increased in SERP on that keywords..

It will not affect your "ranking", it will just modify your rankings on different words...

It can decrease your ranking position...The main keyword should be in the title of your site...If you're going to change it you take a risk!

changing your page title would probably affect your current rankings. either it'll go down or increase. it depends with the optimization. just be sure the metas are still be related to the content or services of that certain page.

Your keywords are including inside of your title? If you change your title then you also changing you’re Keywords which Google catch and when you will change the same they will not found it! Site owner those made changes on their live site any most of the time they are affected decrease page rank, low keywords popularity etc.

    Hi,

Whenever you change the Title or Meta Tags of the website google treat as a new site, the google crawler track you site as a new, so you have wait for getting same ranking like you haveing now.

So, if you remove "download free" part from your meta title, that will couse a big drop in rankings for searches that contains that words... "download" and "free"...

But, that will cause slight improvement when people search "wonderking hacks" "ms hacks" and other stuff...

So, take a look from what search phrases you have traffic and do what is the best...
