Hi can any1 refer any good program wich could be used to make logos. my logo would be like 480x60 or little bigger but it would be without background like .png files or so thank you in advance
You need to keep in mind that Photoshop (No matter how you size it up) is still a Paint / Raster / Photo manipulation software. While you will see novice designers using it to create Logo's, you should probably look into Vector software for your logo needs. Vector software caters to both Vector (Lines/Paths) with infinite up scalability without losing quality & can output in Raster. Vector software's are Ideal if you want to use your logo's full branding capabilities (E.G. Business cards, website, letter heads, t-shirts, embroideries, fax covers, fliers, Etc..) If you'll only be using it online & have NO future intentions of extended branding for yourself or company, than stick with photoshop. A few good Vector softwares: Adobe Illustrator Serif DrawPlus x2 Corel CorelDraw x3 A Free Opensource Vector software to get your feet wet before making an investment: Inkscape Hope that helps, good luck to you
Yes you should be using Vector for logos, since they may be replicated in any size on any medium - its good to have an easily resizable image. If you are going down the Adobe route, both Fireworks and Illustrator do the job - though I recommend Fireworks (Illustrator seems to be very slow). But many other programs would do the job - try and see.
