Good place to start?

I've been writing for people for a while, but I haven't started my own blog yet, and never realized it until I saw people showing theirs as sample articles.

I guess I've been meaning to, but never got around to it.

I know some sites get better rankings than others, and I'm not sure if Blogger or Wordpress is better due to that.
I know people on here have in depth knowledge of SEO to the point that they know how to manipulate this minute detail to make a site better.

So, where to start? Wordpress or Blogger?

Also, what would be best to write a blog about? It's easier to write about things I know, but I'm again not sure what would be best.
The things that just glide off my fingers when I write about them are the following:
    -Gaming-related
-Android phones- From apps to rooting & customization
-More blackhat things, tutorials and such.
-Writing, short stories (mostly scary stories), how to write better, and writing tips. I mean tips as in how to use keyword densities to the best of their value and things similar to that, mostly SEO based, but also how to better your writing overall.

What to do? What should I write about? Which site?

There is always a contradiction between Blogger Vs. Wordpress.
Blogger is only better in handling traffic. and less costly You have to buy only domain name.
But Wordpress has more features than bloggers in terms of designing and SEO also.
Personally My recommendation is WORDPRESS. if you have some money to invest in server.

Congratulations on your decision to build a blog online!

I would recommend you to get your domain and pay for your own hosting server. If you can't afford it for now - you can still start for free if you want but just know the difference and the consequences from working with a Free Blog and working with a Paid Blog.

The best blogging platform I personally recommend is WordPress.org

You will have a lot more control and customization control with WordPress.

Blogger is a very simple blogging platforms and has less customization options and the Dashboard is a little boring with very basic options. You can try both - just get a free account and try them out.

I know you are probably going to like the WordPress Dashboard more than the BlogSpot Dashboard. But this is just my personal opinion.

You have very trending and popular topics to write about. You can definitely build one blog for all of those topics. Just make it a general Technology Blog.

Do a little bit of research to come up with a short&sweet, catchy domain name that is relevant to your topics.

If you have a lot of passion on writing about the things you like then you will have no problem building a successful blog online - just make sure you get your own self-hosted WordPress Blog.

Learning SEO to increase the traffic to your website is very simple. With the variety of subjects you want to write about - with the right keyword research and very simple search engine optimization to your post - you can build up a very good amount of traffic from the search engines.

I personally do the same and it works very well. I highly recommend you to go for long tail keywords. If you would like to know more and get good internet marketing education to help you build a successful blog online - feel free to follow me.

Just learn how to build a powerful WP blog online - learn SEO - write Awesome Content - Market the heck our of your Awesome Content - Capture Leads to Build a List - Monetize your Revenue and your List - and Get Paid.

Is a process you need to learn in more details - it's almost like a game you need to play the right way in order to win.

    Hope this helps!

I wish you the best success ever in your online journey!

    You can do it!

    Make it happen !!;)

    Cheers!

First, pick a topic that you are passionate about. The more passionate a blogger is about a topic, the better the blog is.
Second, write down a blog purpose (why are you writing this blog and what do you hope to accomplish)
    Third, Define your target audience.
Fourth, don’t focus on SEO, focus on who your reader is and producing quality content.

As for a platform, I really like Squarespace. I find it to be more user friendly than Wordpress.

Congrats on getting your blog started!

    Hi IJustLikeWriting,

Congrats on creating your own blog! You seem to be very well-rounded in topic ideas (short scary stories are a great idea and will definitely make you stand out).

But in addition to focusing on SEO, metatags, etc., one important trait in successful bloggers is constant, quality interactions with readers. Seems like such a small thing, but it does way more in bringing in traffic than you think. People are more responsive and lean towards a blogger that they feel a connection too, whether in through the blog’s personality, or seeing that they can benefit you are providing them.

As for Wordpress or Blogger, each one has their own way of ranking in search engines and sometimes there is little for you to control. Their algorithms may change time to time. But in my opinion, choose the one that allows you to add more plugins, which makes all the difference in reaching out to more people; social media, email campaigns, etc.

Just imagine yourself in the reader’s shoes what would your preferences be in following bloggers. Readers want good quality content, and most importantly, at their convenience. Make it easier for them to follow you too. People are more likely to read your stuff if it is readily available, right?

If you add a sign-up form to your page, readers can simply subscribe to your blog by email, then each of your new blogs will be sent automatically to their inbox. It’s so fast and easy for your content to be shared, and that’s what’s is going to be to your advantage as a blogger.
