Hello, My boss recently created http://www.goodpeoplestories.com, a database of stories about good people, organized by name. The overall purpose of the site is to accumulate user-submitted stories about anyone and everyone that deserves a "Thank You." In turn, whenever someone Google's the name of a person that someone has written about, the site comes up and we get more contributions that way. Any comments or suggestions on this method? Anyone tried it before? We've already gotten over 50 stories since the site started a few weeks ago, so it seems that it's working so far. We don't really make money off the site. Its only purpose is to spread positivity in a time when so much of what we read is negative. Naturally, if anyone would like to contribute a story, it would make my day (and the person about whom you're writing's). Thanks!
Hello! This sounds like an interesting project indeed, I will be adding couple of stories these days, after I finish some projects that are taking very much time! Good luck with the website!
Very interesting idea. Ok, let's dispense with the whole "we are doing this out of the goodness of our own hearts." That feeling will pass when the site gets big enough to require stories to be moderated before posting and you'll be dealing with database issues. How could you monetize this site? Affiliate links to feelgood products like "Creative Memories" or whoever it is that puts your name on a plaque, goblet, poster, etc to celebrate a joyous event. Then you've got all those "feelgood" posters, photos, etc. Just a few ideas for when the time comes.
