The term in targeting has Wiki the #2 page on googles first page when you type it in. The term also gets 30k searches per month and has 630k competors. Do I have a solid chance of ranking on googles first page for this term? I have a few questions: First is it true that if you get linked to a PR5 site or above you will be listed in google within 24 hours? Also if im targeting one search term should the title of all the pages linked on my site be named that phrase? Lets say the phrase im targeting is "dog training". Should I name every page on my site "dog training"? Also how important are anchors? Lets just say im only targeting one phrase (which I am) and its called "dog training". I want to be on googles first page whenever everyone types in "dog training" so should I use that word alot? How important are backlinks? I just feel theres alot I need to learn, but I already know a good bit. Can anyone give me some tips on what I should do if im targeting the phrase "dog training"? Thanks
wow. there are a lot of questions there. lemme try and field a few. maybe this thread will get sticky.... probably not though. 1.) Will you Rank? Not enough information. We would need your linking profile as well as the linking profile of the last site on page 1 that has the exact keyword in the title tag. A link profile is the number of backlinks your domain has, as well as the number the exact page you are trying to rank has. That is a condensed definition, but the two most important pieces of the puzzle.2.) PR 5 and Above guaranteed indexing Nothing is guaranteed in the search engines, but you'll more than likely to get hit within a week if your link exists on a PR 5 site or higher.3.) Should all of your titles be the same? NO! No no no no no. Every title on your site should actually be unique. if not, Google will throw the rest of your pages in the "supplemental index". And if they're in there, they won't get any traffic. Remember, the more pages you have in the index, the more hits you get. I would suggest putting the term in your title tag after some other descriptive phrase. 4.) How Important are Anchors? If by anchors, you mean anchor text then I will say very important Get optimized anchor text onsite and off, but make sure the anchor text is VARIED. 5.) How Often Should I Repeat My Keyword Optimum "keyword density" is between 3% and 6%. More than that and Google will think your site is over optimized. That's bad. But its not all about keyword density. Its also about the words you used which are related to your keyword. So if its about dog training, make sure you use the words stay sit and heel. Use the words "command" and "discipline" as well. Google uses something called Latent semantic indexing (LSI) and it takes into account related terms.6.) How important are backlinks? Very important. But its not about quantity its about quality. This forum has a great section about link development. Find some dog training directories, write some dog training articles, get involved with some dog training blogs and comment on their sites, put some great content on your site that people will link to about dog training.
wow ok,lol. Thats alot of info. So your saying each page on my site say..... dog training tips should be titled dog training tips and not dog training? Also I should go to some dog training forums and blogs and make post on them right that link back to my site? Maybe go to a dog training forum and post a link in the off topic section so it wont get deleted? Im not sure how anchors work or what they are for. Theres just so much to learn its a bit daunting. Also should I add a link section to my site where I link to similar sites like mine...will that help? Thanks for the great help man. I gotta go for a few hours, so if I dont answer back I will later tonight. Any more tips from anyone would be great, thanks
1.) With concerns to Title Tags: That is exactly what I'm saying2.) Posting Links in Forums Don't just post go to a forum and post a link. Or go to a blog and post a link. That's a good way to get banned from important communities that could help you out in the long run. Make sure you build a relationship before you start dropping links. I would pick out some key blogs and a few forums and comment or post with meaningful information everyday for about two weeks before I even considered dropping a link. Then you can start answering peoples questions in forums with "i talk about this exact dog training issue on my site" and link back.3.) Anchor Text Quandary This is anchor text Its the stuff you click on to take you to a new page. If your keyword is in it and pointing to your site, that counts as a good thing in the eyes of the SE's4.) Outbound links This is up for debate, but I believe that much like Google counts the words that are related to your keyphrase on the page when they're ranking you, they also count related links. So I would include a few links to other sites and maybe not even on a links page. Don't go overboard though.Keepy it to a couple per page.
Thanks Mtb, so basically I need to put anchor links and have each page title have my keywords in it but add another word to each one like dog training tips, dog training books, dog training videos etc. So basically also I do not want to use dog training too much? Is there a really good site for SEO or book I can get also? Thanks alot for the help man, you have helped me more then you will ever know.
No sense really in buying a book. The moment its published, its no good anymore. Here is what I would do: When you have a question, or don't know much about a subject, go to ezinearticles.com and search for your topic. Some of the articles in there are crap, but many of them are GREAT. When you research using ezine articles scan 4 or 5 same topic articles, and try to take away what they have in common. Don't just read one, because it won't have the whole idea or it will have misinformation. Get a couple sources and you'll have a good understanding of the subject. Of course you can always go to SEObook.com and buy that one for $79
thanks, I downloaded the SEO made easy ebook, im gonna read over it. Thanks for the great help man. I will check out those enzines for sure.
